A GREEN FUTURE

Looking towards a green future

For organisations investing in a green future, new opportunities are emerging. Many socially responsible companies are increasing their competitive advantage through eco-innovations, thereby strengthening their brand. However, it is also important to consider the customers. Conscious consumers value more and more organisations that operate consciously in a way that cares for the environment in which they operate. Being an environmentally friendly company nowadays stands for a status of progress, with the results being reflected in the increased perceived value of your products and services.

CLIMATE NEUTRAL

A sustainable planet

In 2019, the European Parliament declared a climate emergency and called for new environmental measures to be adopted this year, i.e., 2022. The European Union has started investing in a
sustainable Europe.
Our certification complies with European guidelines that will help reduce emissions to 55% by 2030.
The ultimate goal is to have a climate-neutral Europe enacted by 2050.

PROBLEM

Carbon footprint of the Internet

The number of Internet users has increased by more than 80% in the last 10 years. Currently, there are more than 4,5 billion active users on the Internet, or just over half of the planet’s population! The Internet has become an essential part of our lives, making it easier for us to communicate, learn and be creative. But everything comes at a price.

Every website visited, searched or message sent emits a small particle of CO2 into the atmosphere, which is not harmful in itself, but if you take the population of half the planet into the equation, then the reality is far different. Mike Hazas, a professor at Lancaster University, estimates that the carbon footprint of the Internet today is equivalent to the entire airline industry. And it is expected to double by 2025.

The first steps required to help our atmosphere involve users switching to renewable energy sources. At the end of 2020, renewable energy accounted for only 29% of global electricity consumption. Change is what we need.

We see the solution in green digitalisation. The first approach, i.e., process in Europe and beyond that puts people and the planet we live on first when it comes to websites. It comprises several stages, the main aim of which is to make your website green, and the final one to create a sustainable carbon neutral website.
